Albert Watson OBE (born 1942) is a photography legend!
He is known for his fashion, celebrity and art photography. His work has featured in art galleries and museums all over the world.
Watson has a large solo exhibition coming up this year, opening in December 2022 at the prestigious Hangaram Museum at the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea. It will be a large retrospective, the biggest show that Albert has done in Asia.
Albert Watson has shot over 100 covers for Vogue and 40 covers of Rolling Stone magazine, created major advertising campaigns for Prada, Chanel and Levis to name but a few.
He’s also been named one of the 20 most influential photographers of all time!
In 2010 he was awarded The Royal Photographic Society’s Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship (HonFRPS) in recognition of a sustained, significant contribution to the art of photography.
Watson originally studied graphic design, then went on to study film and television at the Royal College of Art.
He say’s “If you look closely, you can see that my images are full of graphic design,” he says. “They’re very carefully framed; the shapes within the images are carefully controlled.” Albert Watson
