Kimia Kazemi is an Iranian photographer and film director.
She has been photographing professionally since 2014 and has been active in the field of filmmaking since 2019.
She currently resides in Tehran, Iran as she works on a new experimental photo series.
The Double Life of Atousa is a photo series by Iranian photographer Kimia Kazemi. The series includes portraits of her mother, Atousa, who is an unpublished Persian poet. In the portraits alone, Kazemi presents her mother as who she is outside of her poetry: A mother and a woman who is caught up in everyday life. Then, by employing the cyanotype technique, She combines these portraits with her mother’s poetry to show that there are two different and separate layers to who she is.
